Sharkpoint before our beach cleaning!

A fantastic team of volunteers made of 15 military soldiers and 10 volunteers collected 300 Kgs on the beaches of Shark Point. It is well known for being a beach that is poorly maintained and unfortunately stirred by winds bringing back all sorts of waste from the ocean.

On 19th January 2020, Calao proceeded to its first beach cleaning of the new year 2020.

We would like to thank all volunteers and
wish that more will join our heroes team!

Calao Luxembourg has performed two monthly beach cleaning over the last month in the North-Eastern shore of Sal Island, in the area of Pedro de Lume.

The amount of plastic debris, especially fragmented fishing nets, accumulating on the coast has increased over the recent months, and we decided to step up the frequency of our actions.
We focused during our first cleaning to larger debris, and during the second one we focused on the tiny bits of fishing nets and plastics, which required far more time and energy.
A group of 12 volunteers from Espargos helped us during each operation to collect overall more than 1 ton of marine waste in two days.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF THEM!

On 29th April 2017, thanks to a great team of volunteers, a new beach cleaning was made in Parda Beach, nearby Shark point.

300 Kgs were picked up! but there is still a lot to do on that beach.
Another beach cleaning is planned later in the month.
Thanks to Gato Brabo, we got all these pictures.

Thanks to you all for your great job!

Last weekend, Calao ASBL Luxembourg has performed its monthly beach cleaning in the North Eastern shore of Sal island, in the area of Pedro de Lume, where we have concentrated our efforts at the beginning of the year. As it can be seen on the pictures, a new cleaning was necessary on those beaches.

Our group of volunteers from Espargos collected that day 750 kgs of the usual debris we find usually: fishing nets, ropes, floting devices and plastic containers.

THANK YOU to all of them!!!!!
