Last weekend, Calao ASBL Luxembourg has performed its monthly beach cleaning in the North Eastern shore of Sal island, in the area of Pedro de Lume, where we have concentrated our efforts at the beginning of the year. As it can be seen on the pictures, a new cleaning was necessary on those beaches.
Our group of volunteers from Espargos collected that day 750 kgs of the usual debris we find usually: fishing nets, ropes, floting devices and plastic containers.
THANK YOU to all of them!!!!!
Newsletter August 2016
Calao ASBL Luxembourg is delighted to announce that its first beach cleaning performed on 5 different locations on the Eastern shore of Sal Island on Saturday 31 October 2015 (Baia da Parda area) exceeded our expectations, as we collected in total 75,000 liters of plastic debris.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to:
-The second military regiment of Espargos, for providing us with a significant logistical support, including 30 soldiers and an army truck.
-The 10 volunteers from Espargos that helped us with great energy during the whole day.
-Our local coordinator Helder Evora for his commitment and efficiency.
-The city hall including Mr Neves for his support and Salimpa.
We will perform our second beach cleaning campaign in January 2016, and will once again need for more volunteers.
