The drought, which lasts already for seven months in the North of Kenya, did not spare our Community School in Matapes (Latakwen region). From the 117 children registered in 2016/2017 at school only 32 are present, the others had to flee their homes with their parents to better place for their cattle.
Unfortunately, no food has been delivered from the Government yet, an usual process that motivates Samburus to stay at school.
Most of families had to move far from the school to be able to access water and food. Most of their cattle died during the drought and the situation is worsening.
Please keep on supporting our actions in the region …..
The school and above all CHILDREN needs your support to get food
Calao is helping out one of the school trainee to become a teacher. The classes will be given at St John’s ECDE Teachers training College Maralal over three sessions: April, August and December. It is a crash course which costs 27 200 Ksh (235 EUR). It will give the opportunity to Lakote Joseph Lalkalepi to teach children at our school in Matapes in the future.
